A A Few Words About Us

Djokosoetono Research Center (or abbreviated as DRC) is a research and study institution in the field of law under the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (FHUI). DRC was established on December 5, 2009. The founding of the DRC is an answer to the need for a research institution that is holistic, cross-sectoral and can bridge various branches of law and bridge the science of law with other social sciences. In this case, the DRC becomes the coordinator or hub for all research and publication activities within the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia. The name Djokosoetono itself is taken from the name of the Father of Indonesian Legal Studies namely Prof. Djokosoetono, the first dean of the Faculty of Law and Society, University of Indonesia. Considering his services, his name was made a patron of this research institute.

Since its establishment, Djokosoetono Research Center has been trusted to carry out various independent researches and collaborate with all institutions within the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia and by other parties such as state institutions and/or ministries, various private parties such as companies, non-governmental organizations or financial institutions or institutions domestic and foreign donors. Until now, the DRC is seen as a
professional, independent, and trustworthy think tank in the field of law that can contribute to the development of law in Indonesia.

Research
  • Research is the main activity of the DRC. Research is focused on innovative, credible, evidence-based and quality academic and strategic research for legal policy reform in Indonesia
Policy Advocacy
  • Facilitating stakeholders in legal reform or strategic policy reform
Public Education & Community Empowerment
  • Public education is carried out through regular scientific publications as well as publishing textbooks, journals, and research publications. In addition, the holding of discussion forums, case surgery, exhibitions, and workshops can be seen as a way of learning to support the renewal of legal and judicial policies
Provision of Legal Experts
  • Providing research-based legal advice / legal opinions is one of the core businesses of the DRC. In addition, the DRC provides the provision of legal experts for various cases at each stage of litigation

SSeasoned and Significant Experience

DRC since its inception has been consistent in conducting research and advocacy on policies relating to law. So far, the DRC has been a strategic partner with various institutions such as the Supreme Court, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Indonesian Deposit Insurance Corporation, Bank Indonesia, the Creative Economy Agency, local governments, and international organizations such as WIPO and ILO. In addition, the DRC also remains active in collaborating with civil society organizations and other private parties in conducting advocacy related to legal issues.
